FBI: Dunning bank robbery was suspect’s second

A man who robbed a Byline Bank branch Thursday afternoon in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side is also suspected of robbing a southwest suburban bank in December, the FBI said.

About 4 p.m. Thursday, a man entered the bank at 3555 N. Harlem and handed a note to a teller, demanding money, according to Chicago Police and the FBI. He implied he had a weapon but didn’t show one.

He then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The robber is described as a black man, in his late 20s or early 30s, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and weighing about 170 pounds, the FBI said.

The man is also suspected of an Archer Bank branch at 6400 W. 79th St. in Burbank on Dec. 15, according to the FBI.

On Thursday the robber was wearing a white shirt, black tie with red stripes, gray pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt, the FBI said.
