Warrant adds detail to FBI raid of body donation center

A recently unsealed search warrant shows what the FBI was looking for when it raided a suburban Chicago company that arranges the donation of human remains.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports federal authorities suspected Biological Resource Center of Illinois in Rosemont of selling body parts for profit.

No charges have been filed since the three-day raid in January of the company and an affiliated crematorium in Schiller Park.

The federal affidavit tied the raid to the investigation of International Biological Inc., a former Detroit body donation firm.

An attorney representing Biological Resource Center of Illinois tells the newspaper there’s “significant information missing from the affidavit.” Attorney Dave Weisman says the company’s practices are “in line with industry standards.” Weisman says the company continues to cooperate with the investigation.
