Dense fog in city, surrounding counties to stay until mid-morning

Dense fog along the lake shore Tuesday morning won’t budge until mid-morning, the National Weather Service warned.

The fog, which has reduced visibility near the shore to a quarter-mile, will remain in the area through mid-morning in Lake and Cook counties, as well as Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana, according to a special statement issued by NWS.

The affected areas include parts of interstates 80, 90 and 94, NWS said.

Those traveling near the lake shore should prepare for extra travel time and should drive slowly, the NWS advised.
