Man shot in the eye in Woodlawn

A man was shot in the eye early Sunday in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

The shooting happened in the 6600 block of South Rhodes a few minutes before 1 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The 44-year-old man was standing outside and “heard shots and felt pain,” Gaines said.

The man was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
