Several questioned after man shot during Kenwood robbery

A man was shot during a robbery late Saturday night in the South Side Kenwood neighborhood.

The 19-year-old man was walking with friends in the 1400 block of East Hyde Park Boulevard a few minutes before 11 p.m. when a group of males approached and asked about their gang affiliation, police said.

A fight broke out after the males announced a robbery and stole a pair of gym shoes, police said.

The victims ran away and one of the suspects fired a shot, police said.

The man suffered a graze wound to the leg and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center by a family member, but refused medical attention, police said.

Several people are being questioned early Sunday but no charges have been filed.
