Man shot to death in Riverdale

A 38-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday night in south suburban Riverdale.

Officers discovered Robert Ross lying unresponsive in the grass in the 13800 block of South Edbrooke just after 8 p.m., according to Riverdale police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Ross, who lived on the same block, had been shot once in the back, authorities said.

He was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where he was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m., authorities said.

An autopsy Wednesday ruled his death a homicide.

Riverdale police are investigating along with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Anyone with information is asked to call (708) 841-2203 ext. 2.
