Teenager shot in Austin

A teenage boy was shot Friday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

About 7:40 p.m., the 16-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 5300 block of West Chicago when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot multiple times in the buttocks, police said.

He ran to the 700 block of North Latrobe, where he was found by Chicago Police and subsequently taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. His condition was stabilized.
