Bicyclist struck and killed by vehicle in Franklin Park

A 51-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle early Saturday in west suburban Franklin Park.

Dagoberto Huizar was struck in the 3000 block of Mannheim Road, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:07 a.m.

Huizar was riding his bicycle north in the roadway on Mannheim when a vehicle passed him, Franklin Park police said. A second vehicle did not see Huizar and subsequently struck him.

The driver was not issued any citations and police are investigating.

An autopsy performed Sunday found Huizar died of head and neck injuries, and ruled his death an accident.
