1 dead, 1 hurt in Far South Side shooting

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in the Far South Side Riverdale neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The men were in the 13200 block of South Forrestville Avenue about 3 p.m. when several males walked up and one of them fired several shots, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said.

Ivan S. Kennedy, 30, was shot in the chest, arm and lower back and made it on his own to Roseland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.

Another man, 22, suffered a graze wound to the forehead and also took himself to Roseland, where he was treated in good condition, police said.

A police source said the shooting appears to be gang-related.
