1-year-old Midlothian girl fatally run over by grandmother

A 1-year-old girl died Friday evening after she was accidentally run over by her grandmother’s minivan in her driveway in south suburban Midlothian.

Aubrie Licea’s grandmother was backing out of the driveway in the 14300 block of South Waverly Avenue in her 2004 Mercury Monterey when she ran over the toddler, according to Midlothian police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Aubrie died at 6:48 p.m. Friday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said. An autopsy Saturday ruled her death an accident.

Police said the woman thought her granddaughter was in the backyard with her mother and siblings, and the crash was an accident.

The 44-year-old grandmother will not be charged or cited.
