An autopsy was inconclusive for a 3-month-old boy who died last week in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South side.
Ameri Common’s mother discovered him unresponsive at his home in the 6600 block of South Laflin at 8:10 a.m. on Aug. 31, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Ameri was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:43 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office.
DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect against the boy’s mother, spokeswoman Veronica Resa said. There are no other children in the home.
An autopsy did not rule on cause and manner of death, with results pending further investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office. A police source said the boy showed no signs of trauma or injury.
