A man was shot and critically injured early Wednesday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The man, 21, was shot in the back in the back about 12:20 a.m. in the 100 block of North Central, police said.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, police said.
