Nothing Joe Maddon does is conventional. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that he responds to texts unlike any other 61-year-old.

Every week, Maddon does a segment on WSCR 670’s Spiegel and Goff show. Tuesday, Maddon needed to come on at a different time because of the Cubs doubleheader in Pittsburgh.

To make sure the manager would be available. the show’s executive producer Jay Zawaski sent Maddon a friendly text.

That’s when Maddon happened:

Yes, the gray haired manager of a team headed to the playoffs just used an Austin Powers meme as a reply to a text.

To be fair, this is the same manager that quoted “The Office” during a postgame press conference and offered to buy the press a beer when first hired.
