A 29-year-old man was shot near a West Englewood neighborhood school Friday afternoon on the South Side.

About 1:40 p.m., he was walking out of a home in the 6900 block of South Hermitage when he heard shots and realized he had been struck in the leg, according to Chicago Police.

The shooting happened across the street from Barbara A. Sizemore Academy, a charter school at 6939 S. Hermitage Ave.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
