(LANSING) A woman was stabbed to death early Tuesday in south suburban Lansing, and police have a person of interest in custody.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 3700 block of 173rd Court at 7:37 a.m. and found a woman unresponsive in an apartment with several apparent stab wounds, according to Lansing police.

Rochelle D. Rebb, 49, who lived at that address, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Wednesday found she died of multiple sharp and blunt-force injuries, and her death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

A person of interest is in custody, according to a statement from police.

Illinois State Police are assisting with the investigation.
