A cocktail to celebrate National Coffee Day

To mark National Coffee Day, which is Tuesday (Sept. 29), the chains have deals for java junkies.

But Chicago’s D’Noche — the dinnertime transformation of Cafe Con Leche — is taking coffee up a notch in a fun cocktail. The Logan Square restaurant (2710 N. Milwaukee) will be offering its Coffee Cocktail, which brings together tequilla and espesso. Created by bartender Jose Mendoza, the cocktail is $9, and will be available through Oct. 9.

Wanna DIY? Here’s the recipe.

COFFEE COCKTAIL

MAKES 1 DRINK

1 ounce Patron XO Cafe

½ ounce Patron Silver

1½ ounce fresh espresso

¼ ounce creme de cacao

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass.

Top with fresh milk foam and garnish with a dusting of ground espresso.

Note: To make the milk foam, use your espesso maker. Don’t have one? Follow the instructions here. (If that sounds like too much work for you, I won’t tell anyone if you serve the drink without the foam.)
