When a federal judge ruled in favor of Tom Brady in his “Deflategate” battle against the NFL, the air came out of the Internet.
U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell went too far in affirming punishment of the Super Bowl winning quarterback. Brady has insisted he played no role in a conspiracy to deflate footballs below the allowable limit at last season’s AFC championship game.
People had fun with the Brady decision, calling him “Teflon Tom,” a joking reference to mob boss John “Teflon Don” Gotti, who earned the moniker for having few criminal charges ever “stick” to him.
