Police warn of North Side armed robberies

Police issued a community alert Monday warning North Side residents of three recent armed robberies in the Lake View and Roscoe Village neighborhoods.

During all three robberies, at least one armed suspect approached victims, pulled out a gun and demanded property, according to the community alert from Area North detectives.

The most recent robbery happened at 12:35 a.m. on Aug. 30 in the 3100 block of North Kenmore, police said. Two men came out of an alley and demanded property at gunpoint. One was described as between 20 and 25 years old, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds and wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants. The other suspect was described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old, about 6-foot, 160 pounds wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Another robbery happened at 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the 2300 block of West School, police said. The suspect was described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old and wearing a camouflage zip-up hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He fled in a vehicle driven by someone else.

The first robbery happened at 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 22 in the 3200 block of North Seminary, police said. Three men got out of a silver four-door car with black rims and damage to the back. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded property.
