The White Sox recalled Micah Johnson from Class AAA Charlotte Tuesday. Johnson, the Opening Day starting second baseman, batted .270 with two doubles and three stolen bases in 27 games but struggled defensively and was optioned to Charlotte on May 14.

For the Knights this season, Johnson batted .315 with eight homers, 17 doubles, three triples, runs scored and 28 stolen bases in 78 games. He figures to split time with Carlos Sanchez, whom he beat out for the Opening Day job.

Sanchez came up when Johnson was sent down and stabilized the middle of the Sox’ infield defense.

The White Sox active roster increased to 31.
