No charges will be filed after one man was killed and another wounded in an exchange of gunfire Thursday morning in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
The two men started shooting at each other during an argument about 5:10 a.m. in the 4700 block of South King Drive, according to Chicago Police.
John Stewart, 39, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was killed on the block where he lived, authorities said.
The other man, 52, was shot in the knee and shin, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, police said.
No charges were filed against the man who survived because the shooting was determined to be in self-defense, according to a law enforcement source.
