A 26-year-old man was ordered held without bond after he pointed a gun at officers during a foot chase early Saturday on the South Side., authorities said.

Victor Williams has been charged with being an armed habitual criminal and aggravated assault with a weapon to a peace officer, both felonies; and misdemeanor possession of cannabis, according to police.

Officers were chasing a man in the 7800 block of South Ingleside about 2:25 a.m. when he pulled out a weapon and pointed it at the officers, police said at the time. An officer fired his weapon, but no one was struck.

He was taken into custody and a weapon recovered, police said.

Williams was ordered held without bond Sunday. He is next scheduled to appear in court Friday.
