A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Saturday night in the University Village neighborhood on the Near West Side.

The 25-year-old was standing in the street about 9:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of West 14th Street when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the right side and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
