A man was shot early Sunday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 39-year-old was driving about 4:20 a.m. when he heard gunfire in the 5100 block of West North Avenue and realized he’d been shot in the shoulder, according to Chicago Police.

The man switched places with a passenger in his vehicle, who then drove him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
