19-year-old man shot in leg in Austin

A man was shot in the leg Monday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

About 3:20 p.m., the 19-year-old was driving in the 5700 block of West Cortland when someone outside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the left leg and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition stabilized, police said.

A police source said the victim is a documented gang member.
