Eight men were killed and at least 30 other people were wounded in shootings across the city between Friday evening and Sunday night.

The weekend’s latest homicide happened Sunday evening in the Northwest Side Hermosa neighborhood. Officers responding to a call of shots fired just after 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Karlov when they found the Samuel Williams unresponsive on the ground with gunshot wounds to the face, chest, back and hand, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Williams was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 a.m. Monday, authorities said. He lived in the 1900 block of North Kedvale.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side, officers responding to a call of shots fired found 29-year-old Jason Balboa lying on the ground in the 2800 block of South Pulaski, authorities said. Balboa suffered gunshot wounds to the head and torso and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:28 a.m. His home address was not known.

About two hours earlier, a 23-year-old man was shot to death in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. Officers responding about 3:05 a.m. to a call of a person shot in the 2400 block of West Lexington found the Rashad Xavier Collins-Baker lying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds to the back, according to police and the medical examiner’ office. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m., authorities said.

About an hour earlier, a 22-year-old man was gunned down in a separate Lawndale attack. Officers saw shots fired about 2:10 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Christiana, where Isaiah Hurley was hit in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:25 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Officers spotted several people leaving the scene and arrested them nearby. Charges were pending early Sunday.

At 1:50 a.m., a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. Jonathan Sanchez walked out of the back door of his apartment in the 7300 block of North Sheridan, and upon returning told friends that he’d been shot, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Sanchez was shot in the back, and was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m., authorities said.

Late Saturday night, a northwest Indiana man was shot repeatedly in the South Side Gresham neighborhood. Taiwan Fox, 18, was found unresponsive about 11:40 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of West 81st Street with gunshot wounds to the back, neck and groin, authorities said. Fox, of the 500 block of Rhode Island Street in Gary, Indiana, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he died at 3:44 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Saturday morning, a man was killed in another Little Village shooting. Giovanni Galvan, 20, was standing on the sidewalk about 10:15 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 24th Street when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside shot him in the chest, abdomen, back and arm, authorities said. Galvan was taken to Mount Sinai, where he died at 10:41 a.m. He lived in the 2200 block of South Trumbull Avenue.

The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened about 1:40 a.m. Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Officers discovered Sentwali Davis with multiple gunshot wounds to the head about 1:40 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Wilcox, authorities said. Davis, of the 2200 block of West Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:02 a.m.

The last nonfatal shooting of the weekend happened at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, when a 16-year-old boy was shot in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was outside in the 1500 block of West 81st Street when two males approached and shot him twice in the buttocks. The boy was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

At least 29 more people were wounded in other shootings across the city between 5:50 p.m. Friday and 7:05 p.m. Sunday.

Additionally, a Chicago Police officer shot a person who authorities say pulled a gun after running from a traffic stop Sunday morning in Englewood.
