A man was shot Friday night in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

About 10:50 p.m., 23-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of South Avers when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
