Three people were injured in a downtown Lake Shore Drive crash early Saturday.

The two-car collision happened about 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Monroe, according to police and fire officials.

Crews had to extricate the victims, who were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said. Two were in serious condition and the other fair.

Additional details were not immediately available.

A night earlier, a man was shot while driving along the same stretch of the drive.
