One man was killed and another was critically injured in a crash Sunday evening on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.

A black 2014 Toyota Camry was speeding northbound on I-94 near 87th Street about 5:30 p.m. when it veered from the far right lane into the accident investigation site, striking a stop sign and concrete barrier head-on, according to Illinois State Police.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. Neither were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The driver, 25-year-old Isiah Robinson, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:06 a.m. Monday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 400 block of Bohland Avenue in Bellwood.

The passenger, a 31-year-old Chicago man, remained in critical condition at Stroger Monday afternoon, police said.

The exit ramp from the expressway to 87th Street was closed for about three hours after the crash.
