A 47-year-old man was found dead after a house fire early Sunday in rural DeKalb County.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at the single-family home in the 1800 block of South Somonauk Street at 4:43 a.m. and found the house partially engulfed in flames, according to the Sycamore Fire Department.

Jeffery Conery, 47, was found dead in the home, according to the DeKalb County coroner’s office. He was the only person inside.

The home did have working smoke alarms, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Sycamore Fire Department and the Illinois State Fire Marshall.
