Person shot in Austin

A person was shot Tuesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 2 p.m. in the 500 block of North Laramie, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

A male was shot in the hip, police said. Additional information, including his age and condition, was not immediately available.

The fatal shooting occurred in McKinley Park on the Southwest Side.
The man, 39, was standing on a sidewalk in the 2000 block of West 36th Street about 10:30 p.m. when someone approached on a bike and opened fire, striking him in the chest, police said.
