A woman was shot in the leg multiple times late Thursday while riding in a vehicle in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Just after 11 p.m., the 24-year-old was in the passenger seat of a car going south on State near Garfield when a gunman opened fire from a sidewalk, according to Chicago Police.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
