A man was shot early Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 35-year-old was walking in the 4800 block of South Bishop about 12:15 a.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in the ankle, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
