Overnight closures begin Friday under East River Road bridge

Overnight lane closures will begin Friday on the Kennedy Expressway and I-190 under the East River Road bridge.

Beginning Friday, there will be overnight lane closures and intermittent full expressway closures on I-90 and I-190 to remove bridge beams as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the East River Road bridge, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The closures will happen nightly, and the bridge beam removal is expected to take one week, according to IDOT.

Motorists should expect delays, allow extra time for trips and pay close attention to flaggers and signs.
