Man fatally shot in Austin

A man who was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been identified.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 0-100 block of North Lorel at 2:33 p.m. found 35-year-old Willie Jones of the 5500 block of West Jackson Boulevard unresponsive in an alley, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He suffered gunshot wounds to the head and back and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:36 p.m., authorities said.
