Two flight attendants were injured Monday night when a Chicago-bound Southwest Airlines flight encountered strong turbulence and was forced to turn back to Boston.
Flight 147 from Logan International Airport in Boston, scheduled to land at Chicago Midway International Airport at 11:50 p.m., turned back when the plane hit strong turbulence, according to a statement from Southwest Airlines.
Two flight attendant suffered minor injuries, the statement said. The flight landed uneventfully in Boston just after midnight, and customers were deplaned with no serious injuries reported.
The crew was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention, the statement said. A new flight crew was brought in and the 133 customers continued on Flight 147 to Chicago and arrived about four-and-a-half hours behind schedule.
