No injuries were reported in a fire Wednesday afternoon at a retirement home in Elgin.

Firefighters responded to the fire at a home in the Willow Lakes Estates retirement community in the 100 block of Bayview Road shortly after 3 p.m., according to the Elgin Fire Department.

The homeowners weren’t home, and no injuries were reported, but damage was estimated at $55,000, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
