A northwest Indiana man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for shooting another man three years ago in Gary.

Jermaine Davis, 37, was found guilty Friday of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, according to Gary police.

While the male victim was entering his home in the 700 block of 41st Avenue on Aug. 22, 2013, Davis approached and shot him several times, police said. The victim was someone Davis knew.

Davis, who lives in the 4800 block of Jackson Street in Gary, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the shooting, police said.
