ACTON, Mass. — Steve Carell has announced that his mother died a day before Mother’s Day.

The 53-year-old actor has posted on Twitter that Harriet Carell died Saturday at the age of 90, adding a simple note, “Love You Mom.”

Carell’s publicist confirmed the death.

Kathleen Doran Boyle, who’s the director of Acton Funeral Home in Massachusetts, says Harriet Carell died at her Acton home surrounded by family. Aside from Steve, an online obituary says she has three other children and is survived by six grandchildren.

Carell, an alum of Second City, is known for films such as “The Big Short,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Despicable Me,” “Over the Hedge” and the TV series “The Office.”
