A Yorkville man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl earlier this year at a motel in far southwest suburban Newark.

Kendall County sheriff’s deputies conducted a well-being check on a “female juvenile” at Duane’s Motel, 15919 U.S. Route 52 in Newark, on Feb. 27, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

They found the girl in the company of 23-year-old Jesse J. Martin, the sheriff’s office said. During the well-being check, the girl’s parent made an allegation of criminal sexual assault, and the sheriff’s office began an investigation.

On June 15, the Kendall County state’s attorney’s office charged Martin, of Yorkville, with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault and two felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the sheriff’s office. He was arrested June 17 and remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
