Police: Woman sexually assaulted near Humboldt Park apartment

A 24-year-old woman was robbed and sexually assaulted last month behind her Humboldt Park neighborhood apartment building on the West Side, police said.

About 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 17, a man walked up to her behind the building in the 900 block of North Francisco, took cash from her pockets and then assaulted her, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The attacker is described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 23 years old, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9 and weighing between 165 and 185 pounds, the alert said. He has hazel eyes and short hair tied in a ponytail, with a small birthmark on his right cheek, police said.

He was wearing a black puffy coat, a black brimmed knit cap and dark pants, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
