Cubs delayed because it’s raining in Cincinnati … again

Tuesday night’s Cubs versus Reds game in Cincinnati was delayed because of rain showers passing over Great American Ball Park.

This is nothing new for the Reds, who have waited through more than 24 hours of rain delays this season. That’s the highest home total since the team started tracking the stat back in 1978.

According to the Chicago Sum-Times’ Gordon Wittenmyer, umpires plan to reconvene around 7:20 to reassess the situation.

The Cubs and Reds are attempting to play the first game of a three-game series in Cincinnati. The Cardinals’ game against the Pirates has already been postponed due to weather.

Chicago is three-and-half games behind Pittsburgh in the wild-card race with six games to play.

The winner will host a one-game playoff series on Oct. 7.
