A teen was shot in the hand Thursday afternoon during a shooting in the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood.

The boy, 17, was in the 7800 block of South Trumbull about 5:30 p.m. when someone fired shots from a passing red sedan, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand, Greer said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.

The boy is a documented gang member, a police source said.
