A 26-year-old man was shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood early Monday on the Southwest Side.

About 1:30 a.m., he was on a sidewalk in the 1200 block of South Independence when he heard gunshots and realized he’d been hit in the left shin, according to Chicago Police.

He drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
