According to EW.com, the Tony Award-winning musical “Newsies,” which just completed its critically acclaimed run at the Cadillac Palace Theater, will make its feature film debut in 2017.

The film will be a joint venture between Disney Theatrical Productions and Fathom Events.

The even greater news? Chicago’s own Aisha de Haas (she starring as Medda in that current North American tour of the show) has been added to the film’s cast along with her fellow tour mate Steve Blanchard (who portrays Joseph Pulitzer), among “dozens of cast members from the Broadway and tour ensembles.”

The website further reports that Jeremy Jordan (“Supergirl”) will “reprise his Tony-nominated role as newsboy leader Jack Kelly alongside a handful of his other fellow original cast members who will return to their gigs: Kara Lindsay (as Katherine), Ben Fankhauser (as Davey), and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (as Crutchie).”
