1 dead, 7 hurt in West Ridge car wreck

An elderly woman was killed and a child was among 7 people injured when two cars slammed into a motorcycle in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side Sunday evening.

The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Western and Thorndale avenues, according police and fire officials.

Rose Chung, 92, of Park Ridge, suffered multiple injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead Sunday at 10:04 p.m. at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Two other people were taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center were listed in serious-to-critical condition, as was another taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston and a fourth taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, fire officials said.

Another person was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, and two more people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police did not immediately have more details on the crash.
