The play of rookie defensive end Jonathan Bullard has been a bright spot for the Bears during the preseason. His speed and quickness have stood out in exhibition games against the Broncos and Patriots.

But Bullard, the Bears’ third-round pick from Florida, has missed two consecutive practices.

Coach John Fox said Bullard remains excused from practice for personal reasons. He didn’t participate in practice Sunday or Tuesday. The team was off on Monday.

Will Bullard’s situation prevent him from playing Saturday against the Chiefs at Soldier Field?

“More than likely not,” Fox replied.

Other Bears rookies are dealing with illnesses. Cornerback Deiondre’ Hall left practice early Tuesday after vomiting on the field. Receiver Kieren Duncan and linebacker Jarrett Grace sat out.

“A little bit of a bug going around,” Fox said.
