Sheriff: $36K of heroin found in McHenry man’s home

Authorities conducting a search warrant at a McHenry man’s home on July 26 found 180 grams of heroin, totaling about $36,000, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Brian Freund, 29, of the 3900 block of Main Street, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.

In addition to 180 grams of heroin, authorities found 2 scales, packaging materials and $963 in cash, authorities said. At the time of the search, Freund was not home but he turned himself in to authorities August 1.

His bond was set at $150,000, the sheriff’s office said. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 10.
