Police are warning residents of an increase in robberies at Park in Austin on the West Side.

In the cases, a group of males between 14 and 17 years old walked up to people in or near the park and took their property by force or the threat of force, according to a community alert from police.

The incidents happened:

  • at 5:50 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 5600 block of West Jackson;
  • at 6:32 p.m. Aug. 30 in the 300 block of South Central;
  • at 6 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 300 block of South Central;
  • and at 3:25 p.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of West Jackson.

In one of the robberies Wednesday, a customer’s Jeep was carjacked. Police have not said if the robberies are linked. No injuries have been reported.
