The Bears began cutting players Friday, telling kick returner/receiver B.J. Daniels that they plan to waive him, sources said.

Daniels, who signed at the start of training camp, had been returning kicks with Deonte Thompson hurt. He caught two passes for 32 yards in exhibition games, returned two punts for 15 yards and five kicks for 114 yards.

Also, the team told Terry Williams, the beefy nose tackle known as the “Swamp Monster,” that it will waive him.

All NFL teams must trim their roster to 53 players by 3 p.m. Saturday.
