Authorities are searching for a man wanted for the fatal shooting of another man outside a child’s birthday party earlier this month in west suburban Aurora.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued for 24-year-old Efrain Salgado a day after the Sept. 4 killing in the 600 block of High Street, according to Aurora police.

About 10:30 p.m., the men were at the family gathering when a fight broke out and Salgado shot 31-year-old Andres Ochoa in the upper body, police allege. The older man was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he died.

Salgado’s last known address is in the 500 block of Oakwood Avenue in Aurora, police said. He is described as a 5-foot-9, 180-pound Hispanic man who should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information should call detectives at (630) 256-5500. Anonymous tips can also be left at (630) 892-1000 with Aurora Area Crime Stoppers, which is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
